The K-Drive is overloaded with information, so it's easy to get lost inside. This K-Drive Crash Course will highlight the areas of the drive that you as the Customer Support team will need to access.
Inside the K-Drive, you will see all of these folders (so many!):
- #recycle
- 1_Online
- 2_Kits
- 3_Micro Trainings
- 4_Translations
- 5_Writing
- 7_Videos
You will only ever need to access Online and Kits. The rest of the folders are for the Learning Development and Media department in the office.
K:\1__Online
Inside the products folder, you will find the online training folder. The online training folder includes everything you would need to upload a course to Talent's LMS, including:
- Online courses and exams
- AIKEN exams
- Certificates
- Trainer Justification
They are all divided up into their corresponding folders.
K:\1__Online\1 - Online Training\1-eLearning Courses
Inside the eLearning Courses folder you will find:
- OSHA
- Canada
- Spanish
- Cal OSHA
- iSpring Quizzes
- SCORM 2004
- SCORM 1.2
- BIS Exams
- xAPI
- BenchPrep Exams
- Free-nav (temporary)
- Templates, Assets
Of all these folders, the only one you should need to use is SCORM 2004! Whoo hoo! Much less complicated than having to sort through all of these folders. Luckily, the SCORM 2004 folder contains only zipped folders (formally called SCORM packages) in the SCORM 2004 format, which is what you would need to send off to a reseller.
If you look inside the SCORM 2004 folder and can't find what you need, reach out to the QA team. They can get you the file you need. The OSHA, Canada, Spanish, and Cal OSHA folders will have additional components like PowerPoint presentations, more SCORM packages, and project folders. While you shouldn't need anything from those folders, be especially sure that you only touch the zipped folders (SCORM packages).
SCORM Packages
SCORM packages are special zipped folders that have been created using a course authoring software, such as iSpring. They are the only readable course format for a file that needs to go on an LMS.
The QA or Learning Development team can publish SCORM packages in two specific versions: SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004. Most of our customers and resellers will prefer SCORM 2004 packages because it is the latest version of SCORM. In the rare case that you have a customer that needs a SCORM 1.2 package because their LMS can't handle SCORM 2004 packages, talk to the QA team. They will need to publish the course again into that format for you.
Project Folders
The OSHA, Canada, Spanish, and Cal OSHA folders will all contain project folders. These folders look normal from the outside, but on the inside they will have strange folder names like
- Audio2
- Interactions
- Playlists
- Quiz
- Scenarios
- Video2
These folders are like assets folders for our courses and contain all the moving parts that make an online course interactive. They are automatically created during the publishing process. Unfortunately, these folders are VERY touchy. If you were to move, rename, or save anything inside of all, their link to the ppt would break. This would automatically delete all interactive elements. So, please just ignore them!
Online Course Formats
We have so many online course formats!
OSHA |
CANADA |
SPANISH |
Cal OSHA |
OSHA ALT OSHA |
CAN ALT CAN |
SPAN ALT SPAN CALOSHA SPAN |
CALOSHA |
Most of them are self-explanatory, but what does "ALT" mean?
"ALT" or alternative versions are slightly modified versions of our normal courses. Almost all customers will receive the regular course, not the ALT versions. Only Open Sesame and 360 will ALWAYS receive the ALT version. BIS will ALWAYS receive the standard version.
What Makes ALT Different?
For our standard courses, the end-user must navigate to a new page to take the final exam. Our ALT versions have the final exam nested inside the standard course so that no additional navigation is required. Again, Open Sesame and 360 will always receive this alternative version.
AIKEN Exams
AIKEN exams are quiz questions that are in a special format. This format allows us to easily convert them into the final exam on Talent. The Content Development team imports these AIKEN exams to Talent when they upload the courses, so you shouldn't ever need to edit the AIKEN exams. Instead, you can just edit the questions inside of Talent.
Quiz Questions
If a customer complains about a quiz question, check with the Content Development team before making any edits. It's possible that the customer is incorrect about a misspelling or incorrect answer choice. If you get the go ahead to correct a question, edit the question in the final exam in Talent. If a question is incorrect on Talent, it is likely that the question is also incorrect in every other version of the course. The CD team will have to correct all of them and reupload each course to Talent. The CD team will also have to edit the Final Exam saved in the kit folder.
