We create product pages for our trainings that the web team uploads to our main website. The product page lists general information about the training, facts/statistics, links to our blog posts, and more. It is best to write the product page after you have finished the OSHA and Canada kits, since you will be pulling information from both kits.
There are several different product page templates to choose from, all saved here:
K:\5__Writing\2-Templates\Product Page Templates
Choose the one that seems to apply to your topic. Edit the highlighted text to match the information from your training.
Once you have filled out the information, save the product page here:
H:\3 - Web\Product Pages
Make sure that you mark off on the Trello board when you have written (or in the case of a rewrite, updated) the product page.
Rewrite
If you are doing a rewrite of a training, there will likely already be a product page created. Don't just assume that this product page is perfect and doesn't need any work! Skim through it and make sure there is an adequate amount of blog posts written (and linked), news articles, FAQs, etc. This is a good opportunity for us to give them a little update.
Calculating CEUs
We are not currently certified to offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs). However, in case we ever become certified, we will need to have a complete list of how many CEUs each course is worth.
To calculate CEUs, first figure out the Estimated Time of Contact:
-
- Take the total number of slides and multiply that by 0.01 to figure out how long the presentation will take in hours. Next, add the total number of quiz and exam questions together and multiply that by 0.0167 to figure out how long the questions take in hours. Total the two calculations.
Now, calculate the number of units the course is worth. As a base calculation, 10 hours of contact equals 1.0 CEU. So, to convert the Estimated Time of Contact (in hours) into units:
-
- Multiply by 0.1, and then round to one decimal place.
For Example
A 100-slide presentation with 5 quiz questions and 5 exam questions is 0.1 CEUs. Here’s the math: [(100 * 0.01) + ((5+5) * 0.0167)] * 0.1 = 0.1167 which rounds to 0.1.
