What is Loom?
Loom is a screen recording software you can use to record brief videos. We are signed up for the free version of Loom with our company Google account, which only allows us to keep 25 videos in the Loom library.
How do I make a Screen Recording?
You'll get started by opening Loom. You can use Loom on the internet; however, it has additional features that you can use if you download the desktop app, such as allowing you to record screens other than the Chrome browser. From here, the software is pretty self-explanatory, but you can also check out the Loom Help Center if you have questions about how to use it.
How do I add a screen recording to our Zendesk help center?
Once you've created and edited your screen recording using Loom, you can download the .mp4 file from our Loom library. Now, you're going to upload the .mp4 file to our YouTube channel as "Unlisted" so it's only accessible by a link.
Uploading to YouTube
Sign in to YouTube with the hardhattrainingseries@gmail.com account. The credentials are saved in LastPass. Now, go to "Upload video" in the upper right corner. Inside the "Upload videos" window that appears, browse for the .mp4 file you just saved. Next, edit the video title and description. |
Upload a thumbnail image for the video. You can customize the PPT file titled "Thumbnails" to create the image, which is located here: Q:\Screen Recordings. Each video should have the same thumbnail so our articles look uniform. Simply change the subtitle to an appropriate name for your screen capture.
Under "Playlists," select the QA - Vids for Zendesk playlist. Under "Audience," select "No, it's not made for kids."
Finally, click "Next " until you arrive at the "Visibility" menu. Here, select "Unlisted" and then "Publish." Once the video is published, it will generate a link that you should copy.
Embedding the Video in Zendesk
Inside the article where you want to add a video, go to "Add video" from the article editor ribbon at the top. Then, paste the URL for the video you added to our YouTube channel. Then select Insert.
