Style Guide
The company has a style guide full of information. You should look through the style guide often, as it is often being updated and added to. In the style guide, you will find expectations of what courses should look like and what our general writing-specific policies are. If you have any questions about writing policies or general helps, look to the style guide first. It is likely that you will find your answer there.
You should become very familiar with all the information listed in the style guide. You are expected to follow the style guide in all aspects of your job, whether it be developing a course or writing a simple blog post.
If you have any questions about content that isn't included in the Content & Style Guide, refer to the AP Stylebook. We have an online subscription under the writers@safetyprovisions.com account. You can find login credentials in LastPass.
Trello
What is Trello?
A lot more goes into a project than just writing it. We use Trello to help us keep track of what we need to accomplish next, no matter what the project is we're working on.
The "Trainings" Trello board is used to keep track of course creation on a general level so the web team can stay up-to-date. The cards will have a list of all the tasks you must complete before your training is officially finished. It's important that you check off each task as you go. This keeps you from accidentally missing any steps, and it also allows the managers to keep track of where each employee is in the writing process.
Because the "Trainings" Trello page is very general and specific to course development, it may be helpful to maintain additional Trello boards that are more specific to your current project. Work with your team to determine how this Trello board should look.
Important Notes for the Trainings Trello Board
At the top of your training topic card, fill out the "category" and "industry." You can find the list of categories here on the left-hand side of the page. The industry will be anything like General, Construction, Medical, Agricultural, etc.
You will also need to create a product page if your training is new (rewrites should already have a product page.) Just to see if your rewrite has one just in case.) You will likely do this at the end of the writing process. Make sure you check this step off on the Trello card.
