Multimedia training courses are always more engaging for our end users. Pictures, infographics, and videos can all improve the end user's learning experience and hold their attention.
Determining the Need for a Video
Utilizing short video clips is a great way to vary the content of a training course. However, utilizing too much video can bulk up file sizes and risk making the end user bored.
Videos are best utilized alongside information that illustrates how to perform a task correctly.
For example
In our Bloodborne Pathogens course, you will find a looped video of how to remove surgical gloves properly. While the information in the textbox explains how to remove gloves, the video reinforces the explanation by showing the viewer what the text is saying.
Video Settings
- To insert a video into PowerPoint, go to the Insert tab at the top. Then select Video > from File
- Navigate to the video you want to add and click Insert.
- Resize or crop the video window on the slide as needed.
- Adjust video playback.
- Click on the video, then go to the Playback tab at the top.
- Click the Volume dropdown and select Mute.
- Click the Start: dropdown and select Automatically.
- Check off Loop until Stopped.
Important: If the video is longer than the slide audio, you need to go to manage narration and extend the duration of the slide time to match the duration of the video. Once published, the video will continue to play after the audio is finished but will not loop unless the user clicks the play button.
