You will collaborate with our in-house graphic designers to create infographics for your course. As you determine where infographics will be needed in your course, consider:
- Would this information be easier for the end user to understand with a visual aid?
Submission Format & Process
It will be easiest for the graphic designers if you consolidate all of your infographic ideas into a PowerPoint file. In this file, you can include:
- A screenshot of the slide the graphic needs to be built for
- A visual mockup of what you want the graphic to look like
- Mockups could be an old infographic, a picture, a sketch, or any combination of these
- A write-up of any text that the designers must put into the graphic
- Any other written instructions that could provide context
Note: If you include a mockup of a graphic that the media team has already recently created, provide a file path of where you found it so the designers can find the Adobe Illustrator file they used to build the original graphic.
Ideally, you will want to include enough context for the designers to build the graphics with minimal confusion or additional instructions needed. When you've completed the PowerPoint, save it into the M-Drive under 01-Training Topics > [Your Training Category] > [Your Training Topic] > 2_design > From Writers (temp).
Send a message in the From Writers for Media channel to notify the designers when you are ready for them to take over. When you need to convey additional information, it may be simpler to have a face-to-face conversation with the designers (either in person or over a video call).
Important: You are expected to submit infographic requests no later than halfway through a project. This allows the designers to have enough time to create the graphics and allows you enough time to review them before you publish your course.
Review Process
The designers will save completed graphics into the M-Drive under 01-Training Topics > [Your Training Category] > [Your Training Topic] > 2_design > Graphics > exports. As you review these, look for anything that is visually unappealing or that would cause the end user confusion.
Take a few days to review the completed infographics before scheduling a review meeting with the designers. Invite your editor, manager, the media team manager, and your designer to attend.
Be very thorough in your revision requests during this meeting. After the designers have completed your revision requests, you shouldn't need to ask for any further edits.
