Employees at Safety Provisions can receive a number of specific benefits based on their employment status. Some of these benefits include insurance, time off, and other fringe benefits.
Insurance
After being a full-time employee for 60 days, you become eligible to sign up for insurance. You will be sent an email asking you to opt-in and sign up for insurance or to opt out. Open enrollment for insurance will happen every year in June. If at any point in your life, you go through a Qualifying Life Event (QLE) you will again become eligible to sign up for insurance.
Example: A QLE could be getting married or divorced, experiencing death in the family, or loss of other health insurance coverage.
Our employee insurance portal is found at Employee Navigator. It will have all of the coverage information that you need.
The insurance that we offer at Safety Provisions has two qualifications that you must meet before you can sign up for it:
- You must be a full-time employee, meaning you must work 30 hours or more each week.
- You must work 30 hours a week for at least half of the year.
Important: If you only work full-time during the summer when school is out and go back to part-time when school starts back up, you do not qualify. For further clarification talk to HR.
Safety Provisions will pay 50% of your insurance premium. If you have any dependents, Safety Provisions will not pay any of their insurance premium.
If you are a salaried employee and opt-in, Safety Provisions will pay for 75% of your insurance premium. If you have any dependents, Safety Provisions will pay 50% of your dependent’s insurance premium.
Medical Insurance
Our medical insurance is offered through Mountain Health Co-Op. In order to find a provider in our area that takes Mountain Health Co-Op, go to https://mountainhealth.coop/find-a-doctor/.
Mountain Health Co-Op operates in Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. If you ever find yourself in one of these states, you should be able to use your insurance to get in-network coverage. More comprehensive coverage information can be found on Employee Navigator.
Dental Insurance
Our dental insurance provider is Beam Dental. In order to find a provider in our area that takes Beam Dental, go to https://www.beambenefits.com/.
The insurance plan that we have covers two visits per year for cleanings and checkups. There is a more comprehensive list of benefits on Employee Navigator.
Vision Insurance
Our vision insurance provider is VSP; however, Beam will be the company that emails you to sign up for vision insurance. In order to find a provider in our area that takes VSP, go to https://www.vsp.com/eye-doctor.
This insurance plan is much like other common vision insurance packages. You can get one eye exam per year. This comes with an entire year’s worth of contacts (usually about $200) or $200 toward a pair of glasses. There is a more comprehensive list of exact coverage that can be found on Employee Navigator.
Time Off
We want you to enjoy a healthy work-life balance. We offer you paid time off (PTO), unpaid time off, and holiday pay.
Paid Time off (PTO)
You are eligible for paid time off (PTO) from the moment you are hired, and you can use PTO as soon as you are hired.
- Full-time employees get 8 days of PTO at full-time hours (8 hours per day)
- Part-time employees get 8 days of PTO at part-time hours (4 hours per day)
- Interns are not eligible for PTO
We assume that 5 PTO days are vacation days and 3 are sick leave days.
You will receive more days of PTO after each work anniversary.
Unpaid Time Off
We do not enforce a limit on unpaid time off. So long as you are getting your work done as expected, you are welcome to request unpaid time off through Quickbooks as often as needed.
Note: Unpaid time off is not the same as PTO. When you take PTO, you will be compensated as if you had worked that day. When you take unpaid time off, you are not compensated in any way.
Holiday Pay
We take the following holidays off because they coincide with the holidays that employers in the construction industry observe. The list below displays the paid holidays you receive throughout the year.
- New Year's Eve
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving
- Black Friday
- Christmas Eve
- Christmas Day
Holiday pay works like PTO. You will be paid for a 4-hour shift if you are a part-time employee and for an 8-hour shift if you are a full-time employee.
Fringe Benefits
Fringe benefits are extra benefits that supplement your salary. These are benefits that may not come to mind immediately when thinking of benefits, such as bonuses, breaks, dress code, and snacks.
Bonuses
We are grateful for your hard work! Each year, you will receive a bonus during the holidays. Additionally, we occasionally offer bonuses for exceptional work.
Breaks
Generally speaking, there are two types of breaks you may get throughout the day: a 15-minute break and a lunch break. Depending on the length of your shift, you may qualify for some or all of these breaks during the day.
- When you work a 4-hour shift, you get a 15-minute break.
- When you work a 6-hour shift, you get two 15-minute breaks.
- When you work a 6.5-hour shift or longer, you get two 15-minute breaks and a lunch break.
You have also been given a paid lunch. Use discretion on how long you take for lunch; half an hour is usually a normal length for lunch. It doesn't matter when you take your breaks throughout the day, as long as they don't interrupt productivity.
Important: Breaks are meant to reduce stress by giving your brain some time to recharge at regular intervals throughout the day. Do not save your breaks up to get a single longer break later in the day or to leave early. Likewise, you cannot skip breaks and cash them in as extra paid time off.
Dress Code
There isn't a dress code at Safety Provisions. Wear appropriate clothing that won't distract yourself or others from working.
The only time you may be required to dress in a certain way is when you're representing the company outside of the office. Speak to your manager about the appropriate attire for when you must work in special scenarios, such as an onsite training, photoshoot, conference, or trade show.
Snacks
In each of the office kitchens, we have complementary snacks for you to enjoy. Help yourself to these throughout the workday to give your brain some fuel. If you have any snack requests, notify your manager.
