Create an online version of the presentation.
- Open the PowerPoint File from the Kits folder. Make sure to open the correct one based on whether you’re making a U.S. or Canada training.
- Immediately click "File > Save As" and save the presentation inside the OSHA or Canada folder in
- K:\1__Online\1 - Online Training\1-eLearning Courses
- Delete all the slides that come before the Welcome slide. Delete the final slide with the trademark information.
- Open ENG Extra Slides from
- K:\1__Online\1 - Online Training\1-eLearning Courses\z - Templates, Assets
- Insert the two accountability slides at the beginning of your presentation and the final exam slide at the end of your presentation.
Add the Case Study.
- Copy and Paste the text of the Case Study slide into the Notes section at the bottom of the slide.
- From the iSpring quiz menu, Insert the 1_Case Study Essay Template on top of the case study slide.
- File path: K:\1__Online\1 - Online Training\1-eLearning Courses\5 - iSpring Quizzes
- Copy the information from the case study and paste it where the template says, "[INSERT CASE STUDY HERE]."
- Save and Close.
Add audio to the presentation.
Prior to adding audio to the presentation, you will need to add blank slides as placeholders for the quiz slides. Because you won't be adding the quiz in until later, these blank slides will help you remember where the audio breaks as you insert MP3 files.
TTS
Note: Some older trainings might not have recorded audio, and all new courses will use text-to-speech (TTS).
- On the startup page of iSpring Cam Pro click "New Project"
- In the upper left-hand corner there is a yellow microphone, click on it and select the "Text to Speech" option. It will bring up a box.
- Paste your PowerPoint text into this box. For a male voice, use Jayden (Natural). For a female voice, use "Mia (Natural Voice). Then select "Insert". This will create an audio box at the bottom of the page.
- In the upper left-hand corner there is a button that says "Remove Noise", click that button before you save the file.
- Click on the audio box at the bottom of the page. At the top of the page, there will be a yellow microphone with a save button that says "Save on Computer." Click this button to start saving the file to your computer.
- The audio file should be saved in the file path below in a folder with the same name as the training that you are making. It should be named the number of the slide that the audio belongs. If there is no folder with that name, create one, and save your audio files there. This is the file path.
-
K:\1__Online\1 - Online Training\1-eLearning Courses\Audio Files
-
- Continue to do this process so that you have an audio file for each one of the slides in your presentation.
At this point you will need to open up the PowerPoint presentation of the training that you have been working on.
- In the upper bar of PowerPoint there will be a tab that says "iSpring Suite 10". Click on this tab. In that tab, there will be a stop watch on the left hand side that says "manage narration". Click on that button and it will open up a brand new application called "iSpring Narration Editor". This is where you will be adding all of the audio that you just created
- The first audio files that you should put in are from the accountability slides. Go to the top of the iSpring Narration Editor and click the same yellow megaphone from before and select "From File". The file path for those slides is located below.
- -K:\1__Online\1 - Online Training\1-eLearning Courses\z - Templates, Assets
- Select ENG accountability1. Click the "Adjust slide duration" button and click "insert". Make sure the audio will be going into the correct slide.
- Do this again for the ENG accountability2 audio.
- You will have to repeat this process for each individual slide. The TTS has a tendency to pronounce words incorrectly, so listen to the audio as you go to ensure there are no errors.
- As you insert, make sure the slide box and audio box are the same sizes so the end user doesn't have to wait for the slide to run out.
Note: All case study quiz slides and full-slide information boxes always have TTS.
Important: There is a living TTS document in the Learning Development general tab that has a list of recorded TTS problems and fixes
Pre-Recorded Audio
The following six steps apply to whenever you have to add pre-recorded audio, such as in older presentations.
- In the iSpring Suite 10 Menu, click Manage Narration. A new window will appear.
- In the Narration Editor, click "Audio".
- First, navigate to the folder with the first 2 accountability slides audio. Select ENG accountability1 and ENG accountability2 in consecutive order. Here is the file path for those:
- K:\1__Online\1 - Online Training\1-eLearning Courses\z - Templates, Assets
- Click Open. When the Import Audio window appears, make sure that Insert Clip has the very first accountability slide (1.) highlighted in blue. Then click Insert.
- Once that is done, open Audio again and find the mp3 files for your training in the Audio Drive. Again, highlight those slides in order from the beginning to the end. Click open. And, when the Import Audio window appears, make sure that Insert Clip has the welcome slide (3.) highlighted in blue. Click Insert.
- There's a good chance some of the audio from this folder is out of order or even missing. It's best to insert 10-20 audio slides at a time and then listen through. This way it's easier to catch mistakes.
- Follow the above steps again for adding in the final exam slide audio. This mp3 file is located in the same folder that the accountability slide audio is in.
For Canada Courses:
If you are building a Canada course, there will be some audio files you need to swap out after you’ve finished the steps above. Navigate to the Canada mp3 files and replace any of the U.S. slides that are not necessary.
In the playback bar, you can merely right click an mp3 file you need to delete. Drag the seek bar to the very beginning of the slide you are replacing audio on. Then go to Audio and add in the new audio file.
Create the Quiz.
- Open the iSpring Suite 11 Program on your desktop.
- After opening the program, click on the orange button in the upper left hand corner. It should look like this
- and click "Open"
- Go to:
- Quizzes > Open > K:\1__Online\1 - Online Training\1-eLearning Courses\5 - iSpring Quizzes
- Select 1_Quiz Template.quiz
- Rename the "Question Group 1" the name of your second module. Then create questions using your training. This should be the first module after your introduction. There is no quiz for the first module.
- You can add question templates by clicking the "Question" button in the upper right hand corner. It should look like this
- After creating your questions and answers, make sure that the correct answered is selected
- You should add feedback to the questions. The feedback will change depending on the type of question. Most will be "Correct" or "Incorrect", there will also be "Partially Correct"
- This feedback should give the reader more details (if correct), or restate the correct information (if they got it incorrect)
- This feedback should give the reader more details (if correct), or restate the correct information (if they got it incorrect)
- In the Properties tab,
- click "Question Properties. Put the number of attempts to 1.
- Write questions that are directly answered by slides in the corresponding module
- There is no restriction on the number of questions that you can put into the quiz. However, the quizzes should cover all of the information that is in the final exam.
- After completing all of the questions save the quiz file inside
- K:\1__Online\1 - Online Training\1-eLearning Courses\5 - iSpring Quizzes
Important: If you have any questions about the guidelines pertaining to exams and quizzes, visit the Zendesk article, Exams.
Insert the quiz questions into your presentation.
- At the end of each module (and any sections that needed their own question groups) add a blank slide. Now click on the first blank slide you added.
- In the iSpring Suite 11 menu, click Quiz. When the Quiz Maker Window opens, select the quiz you just made.
- Go to Properties > Question List
- Under Include Question in the quiz, select Questions from selected groups and uncheck every group other than the first one. Save & Exit.
Create the presentation outline.
In the iSpring Suite 10 menu, click Slide Properties. We will use this to create an outline for our presentation.
NOTE: When you have the presentation outline open, you have very limited functionality with your presentation. This can make it difficult to read the headers and subheaders. It can be helpful to increase the "preview" size of each slide in the ppt. Scroll through this, and when you come to either a chapter slide or topic slide, insert the title into the outline.
Select all the slides with Ctrl-A. Then, select "On-Click" at the top so that it is unselected. If this step is skipped, the user would be allowed to skip ahead in the training, even if it is set to limited navigation.
Naming Conventions
- Under the Title column, name every slide that has a chapter title or topic.
- Name the first slide "Accountability."
- Name the Welcome slide "Introduction."
- Name the final slide "Exam."
- Quiz slides should be named “Quiz: [Insert Name of Module Here]”
- Case study quiz slides should be named "Case Study: [Insert Hazard Here]"
Hierarchy Conventions
- Highlight all the slides within each module, not including the module title slide, and click demote at the top. Do this again if there are any chapters in each module. This step creates a hierarchy in the table of contents so that users know which section they’re in.
- You do not need to further demote slides that come after the topic slides.
- Demote the second Accountability slide under the first slide.
- Demote quiz slides under the module they're in, not the chapter.
- Demote the case study "conclusion" slide(s) under the case study quiz slide.
- The Exam slide is categorized as its own module.
Do another check to make sure that the "On-Click" setting is unmarked. Then, save and close.
Change all the final settings.
Due to iSpring Suite 10 being upgraded to iSpring Suite 11 We do not have to mess with individual player settings anymore; instead, we can import a theme.
- Go to Player
- Click on the "Import/ Export" tab in the top middle of the screen. Then click on “import theme". This will open a file browser window. The file path is:
K:\1__Online\1 - Online Training\1-eLearning Courses\z - Templates, Assets - Open the "HHT Player Theme". The file below, and click open. This will import the theme, complete with our default color scheme and other player settings. (Note that we won’t be including the Safety Provisions, Inc. logo anymore.) At this point, you should not need to alter anything.
- Click apply and close. You can now continue on to the next part.
Compress Images
- Select a random image from your presentation and open the "Picture Format."
- Select the icon to compress images.
- Under Compression options, uncheck the box that reads "Apply only to this picture." Under Resolution, select Web (150 ppi).
Publish!
- Go to Publish> Publish for LMS.

Marybeth and Tina - On the audio instructions, when talking about importing them into the PPT manage narration, there is a left over bit of instruction from the old way of doing audio. #3 of that bit says that you need to do each slide individually to listen to the pronunciation, but that is now something that should be done in the CamPro part. You can add the audio into the presentation in bulk since the mp3s should be correct.
The file path for the iSpring quiz template is incorrect.
