Each product we sell has a specific image associated with it. The picture below, for example, is shown on all versions (US, Cal/OSHA, Spanish, etc.) of the MEWP (Aerial Lift) safety training course.
It is important for us to use the correct image whenever we list a product on our website, Talent, and anywhere else we choose to feature it. In order to make sure we use these product images consistently, we have collected them into a specific folder in the drives where every department can access them. You should be able to find the folder here:
M-Drive/05- Company Use/Web Department/Design/Updated Product Images
Creating & Updating Product Images
As our training catalog grows and adjustments and updates are made, we may need to update our old product images or add new ones to the folder. In this section, we will discuss how to make a product image that is consistent with the ones we already have. You can find the templates you will need to use at this file location:
M-Drive/05- Company Use/Web Department/Design/Updated Product Images/7-Templates
Inside this folder, you will find a .PSD file for the HHT, Ag, and Med product image templates. After opening up the template file you will be using, immediately bring up the "File" tab and click "Save as" to save the template with the correct name of the image you are creating. Save it in a different place so that the template remains. If you were creating a product image for asphalt paver, for example, you would name the file HHT - Asphalt Paver. |
Always start with the brand (HHT, Med, Ag) and then add the course name. The course name on the file should match both the name you will put on the product image, or where the template says "Title Goes Here," and the name that is in the master course list.
Next, find the course image you need and paste it into Photoshop. In Photoshop, you can resize the image to fit into the template by using a photo or layer mask.
If you are making a product image for a new course, the writers should have saved the new course image at this file location:
M:\05- Company Use\Web Department\Design\Updated Product Images\8-Product Image Thumbnails
You can then download the image and use it to create the product image. If the image that the writers selected is not working, you can reach out to the writer over the course to make arrangements. If you are recreating or updating a product images, you can also find the images for all previous product images here:
M-Drive/05- Company Use/Web Department/Design/Updated Product Images/8-Product Image Thumbnails
Once you have placed the image in the template and sized it correctly, you should add the title of the training topic. Be sure to use the exact name from the master course list. Double-check for any spelling errors or typos.
Note: You can find all of the current training topic names at www.safetyprovisionsresources.com/courses
Export the final product image and save it in the "Blanks" folder in the correct brand folder.
M-Drive/05- Company Use/Web Department/Design/Updated Product Images/(1-HHT, 2- Canada, 3- AG, 4- Med)/Blanks
After you have finished the product image, you will again open the image and add a banner that tells the customer which type of training it is: Train the Trainer, Online, or Kit.
Using the blank version, you can create a new version for with each banner and save it into the correct folder.
You can find these banners saved as .JPG files here:
M-Drive/05- Company Use/Web Department/Design/Updated Product Images/7-Templages
To add a banner:
- Drag the .JPG file onto the finalized product image in Photoshop.
- Make sure it is positioned correctly.
- Export the product image file.
Adding Banners in Large Quantities
If you are adding multiple banners to multiple product images at once, copy the banner in photoshop and then toggle between each tab of photoshop you have open with each product image and paste the banner.
- Hold down both control + tab to move between open PSD files.
- Press control + v to quickly paste the banner on to each tab.
You can also export large quantities of product images at the same time. First, select files > scripts > image processor. Then adjust your export settings and click run.
Whether you are exporting a single product image or many product images, you should use these export settings:
- Export resolution: 300 dpi
- Dimensions: 450x450 px
When exporting, go here: M-Drive/05- Company Use/Web Department/Design/Updated Product Images
Choose the correct brand folder:
