Almost everything you may need will be found in the M-drive. Here you can access photos, graphics, videos, audio, and all other material needed to complete projects. In this article, we will look at one particular folder: 01_Training Topics. Once you are in the M-drive, click on 01_Training Topics to begin learning about the material below.
01_Training Topics
Inside the training topics folder are a variety of folders. Each folder is titled by the categories our trainings fall into. Once you click into a category, you will find specific training topics. For example, I could click into the "At Heights" folder you will find "Fall Protection" as well as "MEWP (Aerial Lift)" and other trainings that fall into the "At Heights" category. The training topics folder is in alphabetical order. If you are unfamiliar with the categories, be sure to browse through them to get an idea of trainings we have. |
Example: If you wanted to get to the graphics made for OSHA - Fall Protection, you would follow this file path: M: > 01-Training Topics > At Heights > Fall Protection. Once there, you would see this screen. You would then click on designs to see the Fall Protection graphics.
If you find a folder that does not follow this organization system, please let your team lead know so it can be remedied.
1_photos
This folder will be used for any photos of the training topic. When uploading files, place them within the 1_photos folder, and within a folder specifying the location you got them. You can keep any file types in this folder but just be sure to organize them by said file types, including edited versions vs RAW files. If a photo is changed by simple edits within Lightroom or a similar program, they are good to stay in the 1_photos folder. However, if they are altered in Photoshop or have any serious color edits on them, they are to be saved in the 2_design folder.
2_design
This folder can hold a variety of media, but for the most part, it will contain graphics. Normally there will be folders in here similar to "past designs" or "new designs - July 2022," or "needs to be redesigned." These folders will help you to navigate the different graphics that have been made for that particular training topic. Project folders for new graphics are also included inside these folders so that any changes that need to be made can be implemented.
3_videos
The video folder holds any footage taken concerning the specific topic. Like the 1_photos folder, the footage in this folder should be organized by location (ex. Sugar), subject within the topic (ex. Demolition), or another way that makes logical sense. Inside the video folder, you should find a folder with the raw and original footage. You will also likely find an "Edits" folder with other subfolders containing those videos that have been edited for different projects.
4_animations
The animations folder, as you might assume, is used for any animations created for that specific topic. This folder will also contain all the titles and elements that are used to create the animation. Each individual project will have a subfolder for exports and final versions as well as a subfolder for project files.
Note: The file system above is the most current file system used. It may take a while for all training topic folders to be organized this way. Some may contain the following folders: 5_assests or 6_project files. If they do, just leave them for now and do all your saving in the folders listed above. Media team management is slowly correcting each folder and organizing old files.
