Our office uses computer drives to store our information. Learning to navigate the drives can be difficult at first, but it is essential for updating the master list spreadsheet, completing auditing projects, and investigating customer concerns.
Learning Development (K:)
All resources used by the learning development department to create a course are found in the K: drive. The K: drive houses the PowerPoints and zip folders for each of our online courses, which you may need to view from time to time. It also contains the DIY kit folders. The kits contain our basic PowerPoint presentations along with compiled research for each training topic in our catalog. This includes published documents, accident profiles, practical and written exams, and reference manuals.
Listed below are a few important locations in the K: drive that you should know about:
- SCORM 1.2 files for Talent: K:\1__Online\1 - Online Training\1-eLearning Courses\7 - SCORM 1.2
- Online course OSHA PPTs: K:\1__Online\1 - Online Training\1-eLearning Courses\1 - OSHA
- Online course Canada PPTs: K:\1__Online\1 - Online Training\1-eLearning Courses\2 - Canada
- Online course Spanish PPTs: K:\1__Online\1 - Online Training\1-eLearning Courses\3 - Spanish
- Aiken exams for Talent: K:\1__Online\2 - EXAMS-QUIZZES\2 - exams-aiken
- Kits: K:\2__Kits\1 - KITS
Within the kits, you should also know how to navigate to the written exam and practical evaluation. Luckily, kits always have the same folder names inside. Here is the file path you would follow inside the kit:
- For the written exam: D - Training Materials > Exams & Keys > Written Exams
- For the practical evaluation (observation form): D - Training Materials > Exams & Keys > Practical Evaluation
If you have any other questions, read the learning development department's article about navigating the drives.
Note: Talent is our LMS provider. LMS stands for learning management system and is the platform through which our end users take online courses. You can think of the LMS as a virtual campus with buildings (OSHA, Canada, Spanish, CalOSHA) and classrooms (each training course) inside each building. The LMS maintains user data, user exam results, and certifications.
M-Drive (M:)
The M: drive is the media department's drive. Like the K: drive, there is a lot of information to look through in the M: drive, such as pictures, videos, infographics, audio, and more.
The folder titled "01-Training Topics" is where you can find all of the pictures, videos, and infographics organized according to training category and topic.
The folder titled "05-Company Use" is where you can find projects that the media department completed for individual departments. Listed below are a few important locations in there that you should know about:
- LMS image thumbnails: M:\05- Company Use\Writing Department\Photos\Product image thumbnails
- Zendesk graphics: M:\05- Company Use\QA department\Design\Zendesk Graphics
- Company logos: M:\05- Company Use\Management\Designs\Logos & Business Identity
- Website product images: M:\05- Company Use\Web Department\Photos
If you have any other questions, read the media department's article about navigating the media drive.
A-HHT (H:)
This drive is used for file sharing between departments. You will rarely need to use anything in here.
Quality (Q:)
This is our department's drive! We keep auditing records here, as well as our individual folders. You can save or back up any of your files to your individual folder for safekeeping.
Most of our files reside in Teams, but we back them up to the Q: drive once the files cycle out of regular use. You'll also notice that we keep a backup version of the Course Master List here. This should be backed up every month or two as it is updated.
As you get oriented to your position as a QA specialist, feel free to spend time exploring all of the drives so that you can learn where things are saved. This is a valuable use of your time as a new employee.
Listed below are a few important locations in there that you should know about:
- Audit spreadsheets: Q:\Audit
- Customer feedback email templates: Q:\Customer Feedback Email Templates
- Team member folders: Q:\Team Member Folders
Important: Refrain from moving or changing files without getting permission from the affected department first.
Remote Access
You can remotely access the computer drives when you are working from home. Visit hardhat.quickconnect.to and then enter your remote access credentials into the sign-in page. The web department will provide you with these credentials, so you can talk to them if you do not have the credentials yet.
