There are many transitions available for videos. In order to have a consistent style in our video trainings, we use specific transitions when we switch footage. Transitions should be used to transition from one video to another, so they shouldn't last for longer than a few seconds. Here is a list of the transitions we use often, and when:
Cross FadeWe use this transition when moving from live footage to footage with a black background, or studio set-up footage. This transition is also used to transition from graphics to animations. |
Dip to BlackIf the cross fade doesn't look good in the instance above, then we will use the dip-to-black transition. |
GlitchWe use this transition for case studies. It also appears in the intro and possibly the outro of a full-size training video. |
Door ClosingThis transition will primarily be used for short form videos such as social media posts. It will also be used on the occasional talking head videos. |
Pause and DiscussWe also use this transition in case studies when we prompt the viewer to pause the video and discuss the case study with someone near them. Case Study assets and this transition can be found here: M: > 02-Frequent Use > Videos > Case Studies > Exported Assets |
